Konner Johnson - What Constitutes a Journey?

All throughout the semester we have been talking about journeys. Specifically we have been discussing the inward and outward journeys. I feel as though everything we do in our lives can be categorized into one of those two categories. With that being said however, the journey does vary in size. I think even making the decision to get out of bed in the morning and go get breakfast is both an inward and external journey. There is an inward pathway of deciding that you are hungry and need to eat and the decision being made and then there is the act of walking to get the food. Is that an example of an internal or external journey or is that just our lives and journeys must be larger things? I would argue that while yes these smaller things are a journey, they lack the specific requirements needed to truly meaningful journey. What makes a meaningful journey? I would argue a couple things. The first is that the journey must cause a realization of some kind. There has to be a significant change in the person, their "mental status" if you were needs to change. The journey also has to be long enough for this change to occur. It cannot just happen in the few minutes it takes to get up and go get food. A true journey is larger and filled with more meaning.
